Argentina court sentences man to three years for arson in domestic‑violence case
Jonathan Danilo Huenuil pleaded guilty in an abbreviated trial for a series of gender‑based crimes in Trelew. The judge, Gustavo Castro, approved a plea agreement and ordered Huenuil to serve three years of effective imprisonment under the country's domestic‑violence law (Law 26.485).
The court also ordered him to pay an indemnity of five million Argentine pesos to the victim for damages caused by the arson, which he carried out after threatening the woman with a fire‑bomb. Prosecutors cited threats, illegal entry, property damage and aggravated arson with common danger as the underlying offenses.
The sentencing follows a detailed investigation by the Trelew prosecutor’s office, led by María Samaniego under the direction of Prosecutor‑General Lucas Koltsch.
