Argentina court suspends then restores public funding for parties over missing balance reports

On 23 July 2026, Federal Judge Maria Servini, who has electoral competence, ordered a precautionary suspension of public contributions to about twenty political groups seated in the Capital Federal (Buenos Aires) because they failed to submit the required 2025 financial statements. The ruling gave the parties a 15‑day business deadline to file the balances, otherwise the state would cease the public funding mandated by Law 26.215.

Subsequently, the Federal Electoral Court lifted the suspension for the party La Libertad Avanza (LLA) in Mendoza after it presented the 2025 accounts. However, the court kept a sanction equal to 20% of the party’s public income for the late filing and referred the documentation to the Cuerpo de Auditores Contadores of the Cámara Nacional Electoral for a definitive audit.
