Argentina courts convict two men in separate sexual crime cases

Argentina's judiciary handed down two high‑profile sentences for sexual offenses. Rubén Alberto “Petro” Cabra, 43, was convicted of kidnapping and sexually exploiting a teenage girl and sentenced to ten years in prison. After the verdict, he fled his declared residence in Chaco, prompting a national and international arrest warrant. Federal police captured him on July 4 in Buenos Aires, seizing cash, phones and documents.

In a separate case in Quilmes, 45‑year‑old bus driver Jonathan Alfredo Padilla received a fifteen‑year prison term for repeatedly sexually abusing his partner’s six‑year‑old daughter at a home in San Francisco Solano. He was taken into custody in the courtroom immediately after the verdict and transferred to a provincial penitentiary.
