Argentina credit card deadline changes spark customer concern
A sudden change in credit card expiration dates in Argentina has caused widespread concern among bank customers. The modification shifted payment deadlines to the first business day of the month, occurring before the mass accreditation of salaries for many workers, including public administration and judicial employees.
In response to the uncertainty and complaints, financial institutions such as Banco de Santa Fe issued clarifications. The bank confirmed it will not apply interest, surcharges, or penalties to customers whose payment deadlines fall before they receive their salaries.
The issue has reached provincial government levels, prompting intervention from economic officials. Provincial Minister Pablo Olivares stated that authorities requested the bank review the modification due to the timing of the new deadlines.
