Argentina defender Facundo Medina reacts to World Cup final defeat

Facundo Medina, the Argentine centre‑back born in Lomas de Zamora and raised in Fiorito, posted a heartfelt message two days after Argentina’s loss to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final. He said the images of the match still “go round in my head” and expressed a mix of gratitude toward teammates, coaching staff and fans, alongside deep sadness about missing the title.

Later, Medina returned to his neighbourhood in Villa Caraza, Lanús, where he addressed circulating rumors of an alleged internal conspiracy. He warned supporters “not to believe the nonsense” and emphasized that “there are more important things than a football match in life.” He also noted that some players chose not to travel back to the country because of the emotional impact of the defeat.
