Argentina delivery workers need 453 orders a month to cover a family’s basic needs
A report by the Fundación Encuentro released in March 2026 calculated that the average earnings per delivery on Argentine platforms was 3,165.2 pesos. Using this figure, a rider must complete 453 deliveries each month to earn enough to cover the basic basket total (CBT) for a household of four, which amounts to 1,531,473 pesos. This translates to roughly twelve hours of work per day, or about 15‑23 deliveries a day depending on days off.
The study also broke down the number of orders required for other expenses: 320 deliveries to reach the average individual income, 250 to pay a typical rent, 147 for a single‑person basic basket, 67 for food alone, 175 for child‑care costs, 111 to reach the minimum wage, and 2 to fill a motorcycle fuel tank. The index used is the Coefficient of Average Order (APP), which does not include tips.
Platform differences were noted: PedidosYa raised its per‑delivery payment in March from 3,659 to 3,924 pesos, while Rappi kept its rate unchanged since October 2025. The findings highlight the precarious earnings of gig‑economy delivery workers in Argentina and the pressure of rising living costs on informal labour.
