Argentina dialysis centers warn of funding crisis at PAMI

The Confederation of Dialysis Associations of the Argentine Republic has expressed “deep concern” regarding the current state of dialysis centers across the country. The entity reported a reduction in resources allocated by PAMI, the National Institute of Social Services for Retirees and Pensioners, for renal treatments.

According to the Confederation, the PAMI module—which determines the amount paid per dialysis session—has not been updated for eighteen months and has actually suffered an 8% reduction. This situation affects more than 200 centers nationwide and compromises the care of approximately 4,700 PAMI affiliates.

Given national inflation rates, nephrologists are requesting a 50% increase to restore and update the value of the procedure. The association noted that despite previous management efforts with PAMI authorities, the funding for these high-complexity practices remains insufficient.
