Argentina distributes blankets and food modules to vulnerable residents amid winter chill

The municipal government of Concepción del Uruguay in Argentina has begun a coordinated winter‑assistance effort, delivering 6,000 blankets produced locally and providing heated shelter, hot meals and nightly patrols for homeless individuals. The program also supplies hot food parcels and warm clothing to people staying on the streets, with a municipal refuge currently housing 11 residents.

In the province of Salta, the national Ministry of Social Development is distributing food modules to indigenous communities in Embarcación and surrounding areas. Over the past week, about 1,700 dry‑food modules reached 37 communities in Rivadavia Banda Norte and more than 500 modules were delivered to 25 communities in General Ballivián. The kits target children, pregnant women, people with disabilities and older adults, and delivery will continue through Thursday 18 April.

Both initiatives are part of the government's winter‑help policies aimed at reducing health risks and hardship for socially vulnerable groups.
