Prefectura Naval Argentina dismantles transnational drug ring
Prefectura Naval Argentina has dismantled a transnational criminal organization following a major drug trafficking investigation. The operation, which began after 34 kilograms of cocaine were discovered in a waterproof bag in Monte Hermoso on January 2, culminated in the seizure of approximately 499 kilograms of cocaine and other narcotics.
The investigation involved surveillance along the Paraná River, specifically near Ramallo and San Nicolás. During the operation, authorities intercepted a tracker-type boat with three crew members attempting to transfer 232 kilograms of cocaine to a larger merchant vessel. Subsequent raids across five locations in the province of Buenos Aires led to the arrest of five suspects.
The criminal group reportedly operated across several regions, including Rosario, Ramallo, San Nicolás, Capitán Bermúdez, and Granadero Baigorria. Authorities seized various items, including a Ford Ranger pickup truck, a boat, and mobile phones. Judge María Gabriela Marrón has ordered 180 days of preventive detention for the suspects.
