Argentina economic sentiment declines as household spending cuts rise

Recent surveys indicate growing economic dissatisfaction in Argentina. According to data from QSocial Big Data, 59% of citizens believe the country is in a worse state than when President Javier Milei assumed office. The social climate has reached a record low in the series, with 55% expressing a negative evaluation of the current national situation.

Household financial strain is significant, with 75% of households reporting they had to cut expenses to make ends meet and 60% stating they have no capacity for savings. Additionally, 44% of respondents reported that their income is insufficient to cover basic needs. Looking ahead, 47% expect inflation to increase, while 36% believe they may lose their jobs within the next six months.

Separate polling by Jorge Giacobbe corroborates this pessimistic trend, showing that 60% of Argentines believe the economy is worsening. Regarding the government's economic plan, 47.8% of respondents believe the official program is “wrong” and causing unnecessary suffering, while only 16.8% believe the current adjustments are appropriate.
