Argentina establishes Data Center Chamber to attract investment
The Argentine data center industry has formalized the creation of the Argentine Data Center Chamber (Cámara Argentina de Data Centers). The new entity aims to unify sector representation before the government, promote conditions for new investments, and strengthen digital infrastructure development within the country.
Founding members include companies such as SkyOnline, Cirion, Personal, Claro, Data Center Dynamics, Nexstream, G2K, Sencinet, and Kyndryl. The organization will operate through four specialized working commissions focused on energy, sustainability, institutional relations, and talent.
The industry faces significant challenges, particularly regarding energy supply. Expanding data center capacity requires increasing electricity availability and distribution infrastructure while ensuring supply continuity. Additionally, the chamber intends to promote environmental standards to address global criticisms regarding high water usage and energy consumption for equipment cooling.
