Argentina expands audiovisual funding through INCAA and Neuquén

Argentina is seeing new initiatives to support the audiovisual sector through both national and provincial funding programs.

The National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) has launched a new edition of its ‘Historias Breves’ competition, specifically focused on the drama genre. The contest is designed for directors making their first steps in Argentine cinema, offering US$35,000 to six selected projects. Eligible projects include fiction short films covering family, romantic, historical, or melodrama themes, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. The program is open to Argentine citizens or foreign residents with permanent residency.

In the province of Neuquén, the regional government has authorized the 2026 Film Industry Promotion Plan. This initiative allocates 220 million pesos to finance various audiovisual productions through the Neuquén Cinematographic Entity (ENCINE). The funding covers a wide range of categories, including feature-length fiction and documentaries, script development, short films, music videos, and distribution for festivals. The plan also includes specific incentives for productions linked to the province to promote local culture and tourism.
