Argentina expands cancer care with new oncology unit in Santa Fe and cervical‑cancer equipment in Neuquén
The Hospital Regional de Reconquista in Santa Fe province opened a high‑complexity oncology day unit, allowing chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other infusions to be administered locally. The launch was announced by director Juan Nardín together with oncologists Ana Gabriela Orlando and Anselmo Bertetti. The facility includes dedicated chairs, recovery rooms and a pharmacy‑prepared medication hood, and patients can return home after treatment, eliminating the need for long stays or travel to other cities.
Neuquén’s provincial health authority equipped 11 public hospitals with specialized instruments for cervical‑cancer screening and biopsy, part of a provincial investment to boost early detection. Officials highlighted the importance of Pap and HPV testing and vaccination, urging women to keep regular gynecological checks. The new equipment aims to shorten diagnosis times and improve follow‑up care.
