Argentina expands cultural spaces for tango and folklore

Argentina is seeing a reinforcement of its cultural spaces through new tango and folklore initiatives. In Buenos Aires, the Centro Cultural Aníbal Troilo has inaugurated ‘La Sala del Troilo: Arte y Cultura al Caer la Tarde’. This multipurpose space, part of the Programa Cultural en Barrios, is dedicated to tango and various artistic expressions including visual arts, dance, and literature, aiming to serve as a community hub in the Palermo neighborhood.

The inaugural program featured the Orquesta del Plata, which performs contemporary interpretations of tango, milonga, and vals.

In Mercedes, the ‘Música por la Identidad’ cycle held a ‘Noche de Peñas y Tango en el Andén’ at the Centro Cultural Trocha. The event featured performances by the Ballet de Folklore Arami, Bohemiosh, and tango artists Mili Vallejos and Eduardo Cirillo. As a gesture of solidarity, the Ballet Municipal Estrella del Sur donated its ticket proceeds to the Comisión de Amigos Peñeros to support the upcoming Fiesta de la Tradición.
