Argentina expands foreign language access through new programs

In Chaco, the Ministry of Education has launched the “Chacolingüe: Somos Lenguas Extranjeras en Primaria” program. This initiative provides virtual synchronous classes in English, French, and Portuguese to 435 seventh-grade students in areas that previously lacked foreign language instruction. The program aims to progressively guarantee language access across the province, targeting schools in locations such as Taco Pozo, Misión Nueva Pompeya, and Quitilipi.

In the City of Buenos Aires, the Ministry of Education has opened pre-registration for the 2027 cycle of the Complementary Educational Centers for Foreign Languages (CECIEs). This free, extracurricular program is available to students aged 9 to 17 from both state and private schools. The centers offer courses in English, French, Italian, and Portuguese, with classes held twice weekly in the afternoon. Pre-registration is available online from October 26 to November 8, 2026.
