Argentina expands organ donation and procurement capabilities

Health authorities in Argentina are expanding organ and tissue donation capabilities through new procedures and institutional agreements. In Jujuy, the Ministry of Health reported five recent ablation operations, with three conducted at Hospital Pablo Soria and two at Hospital San Roque. This brings the total number of procedures in the province to 68 during 2026.

In La Rioja, the Ministry of Health, INCUCAI, and CUCAILAR signed a management agreement with Hospital Regional Enrique Vera Barros to implement a Hospital Unit for the Procurement of Organs and Tissues. This unit aims to improve the detection and evaluation of potential donors and train staff to prevent lost donation opportunities. Additionally, the hospital announced a new clinic for patients with renal failure as part of an initiative to enable renal transplants at the institution.
