Argentina expands training programs for elderly and disability caregivers

Educational initiatives in Argentina are expanding to provide specialized training for caregivers of elderly individuals and people with disabilities.

In the Buenos Aires Province, the Puentes program, in collaboration with the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, recently concluded a diploma program in Gerontology and Disability. The year-long course aimed to provide tools for accompaniment and care, enhancing service quality and increasing labor market opportunities for participants. Graduates are expected to receive their diplomas in September.

In Concepción del Uruguay, the Municipal Open University for Older Persons and the Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos (UNER) are launching the ‘Cuidar al que cuida’ (Caring for the Caregiver) course. This theoretical-practical program is designed for informal caregivers of elderly people with physical or cognitive dependencies. The initiative focuses on practical, emotional, and educational tools to prevent caregiver burnout and promote high-quality, respectful care through case studies and simulations.
