Argentina expands university access: new campus in San Francisco, discount program in Paraná

San Francisco in Córdoba province will inaugurate a new Universidad Provincial campus designed for about 1,700 students. The facility, slated to open in October, will host programmes such as industrial robotics and video‑game programming and is part of the provincial federalisation plan to keep local youth from having to move elsewhere for higher education. Mayor Damián Bernarte said the campus will "allow hundreds of students to stay in San Francisco" and strengthen regional development.

In Paraná, the Unipase initiative now counts more than 100 participating businesses and around 2,800 university students. The programme offers discounts – for example, Farmacia Cura Álvarez provides a 10 % reduction on cosmetics – to lower students' cost of living. Municipal officials highlighted the scheme as a key element of the city’s “facilitator state” agenda, aiming to support the student community.
