Argentina launches winter aid drives in Buenos Aires Province and Entre Ríos

More than 400 families in San Miguel, Buenos Aires Province, received winter assistance kits that included jackets, blankets and footwear as part of the provincial Ministry of Community Development’s winter campaign. The operation also featured a flu‑vaccination post run by the provincial health ministry and involved local churches, scout groups and community organisations. Officials Gustavo Curra and Bernarda Meglia highlighted the effort to strengthen state presence in vulnerable neighbourhoods.

In Concepción del Uruguay, Entre Ríos, the municipal government reported that 14 people experiencing homelessness have declined to enter the municipal Social Shelter despite repeated outreach and offers of food, warm clothing and health monitoring. The shelter, which currently houses 11 residents, provides accommodation, meals, showers and social activities. Municipal social‑development secretary Norma Sosa explained that the city has filed a detailed report with the public defender’s office to seek coordinated action for those refusing shelter.

Both initiatives are part of ongoing winter‑time public‑policy measures aimed at protecting vulnerable populations from the health risks of low temperatures.
