Argentina experiences prolonged cloudy weather and rain
Argentina is experiencing an unusually long period of cloudy skies and low temperatures during the spring season. Between October 7 and 15, the Central Observatory of Buenos Aires recorded nine consecutive days of precipitation, marking one of the longest streaks since 1991.
Meteorologists attribute these conditions to an atmospheric block, where a high-pressure center diverts normal wind and storm patterns. This weather pattern is also influenced by the development of El Niño. The National Meteorological Service (SMN) predicts a 100% probability that this phenomenon will persist or intensify through December, with above-average rainfall expected in central regions including Córdoba, La Pampa, and parts of Buenos Aires and Santa Fe.
Health experts note that persistent gray skies and low temperatures can impact mental health, potentially causing lethargy, difficulty waking up, and irritability. Studies have indicated a correlation between meteorological variables, such as humidity and precipitation, and depressive symptoms.
