Argentina extends coach Lionel Scaloni's contract through 2031

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has reached a verbal agreement to keep head coach Lionel Scaloni in charge of the national team until 2031. The oral deal was made before the 2026 World Cup and will be formalised after the tournament concludes.

Scaloni, who took over the role in 2018, has guided Argentina to a 2022 World Cup triumph, consecutive Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024, and a 2022 Finalissima win. The extension aims to preserve the team’s stability and ambitions for the 2030 World Cup and beyond.
