Argentina faces millions of signatures demanding World Cup exclusion
An online campaign titled “Argentina Out” has gathered millions of signatures calling for the Argentine national team to be disqualified from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Reports from several countries note that the petition has attracted between two and more than five million supporters, with figures of 2 million (Spain), 3 million (Bulgaria), 5 million (Serbia) and over 500 0000 (global tally) cited.
The petition alleges FIFA and match officials have shown bias toward Lionel Messi the Argentine squad, pointing to controversial refereeing decisions in knockout matches against Egypt and Switzerland. Organisers demand that FIFA intervene to ensure a “fair competition” by removing Argentina from the tournament. FIFA has said the petition has no official standing and no procedural mechanism exists to expel a team based on public petitions.
Argentina remains in the semifinals, set to face England on 15 July, while the campaign continues to attract worldwide attention on social media.
