Argentina faces rise in preventable diseases amid low vaccination rates

Argentina is facing a rise in several preventable diseases, including Hepatitis A, pertussis, influenza, and tuberculosis, due to insufficient vaccination coverage. Data from the Ministry of Health’s Vaccine Coverage and Distribution Map indicates that immunization rates are significantly below the 95% target required to halt the circulation of pathogens.

Specific coverage rates reported include 49.4% for Hepatitis A, 50.5% for the first dose of polio, and 51.5% for the triple viral vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella). The impact of these gaps is evident in rising case numbers, such as nearly 800,000 influenza cases and approximately 8,200 new tuberculosis cases. Additionally, pertussis has caused 14 deaths among infants and children under two years old between 2025 and early 2026.
