Argentina federal police seize over 70 kg of marijuana in anti‑drug raids

Federal police carried out a series of anti‑drug operations in the province of La Rioja, resulting in the seizure of more than 70 kg of marijuana from several residences in the capital. Federal judge Daniel Herrera Piedrabuena confirmed the seizures and highlighted the role of police intelligence and preventive work, noting that the drugs were trafficked into the province from elsewhere and exceeded personal‑use quantities.

The judge called for reinforced security checks on the province’s northern and southern entry points, stressing that drug shipments often arrive via long‑distance transport and occasional passengers used as couriers. He also praised the provincial police for their border‑control efforts, though he warned that 24‑hour monitoring is currently impossible.
