Argentina agro-industry projects record 2026/27 production and exports

Argentina's agro-industrial sector is projecting a record-breaking 2026/27 campaign. Estimates from the Bolsa de Cereales and Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario suggest grain production could reach approximately 158 million tonnes, potentially setting new historical records. This production surge is expected to drive agro-industrial exports to an estimated US$41 billion to US$42.2 billion, with a projected Agro-industrial Gross Product (PBA) of roughly US$54 billion.

Key commodities are showing strong performance. Corn is projected to be a major driver, with Argentina potentially becoming the world's second-largest exporter, surpassing Brazil due to high domestic consumption in the latter. Beef exports have also seen a significant rise in value; while volumes have grown moderately, international price recoveries have led to a nearly 40% increase in revenue for the sector. Additionally, soybean oil exports reached a historic milestone, exceeding 3 million tonnes in a five-month period, driven by high demand from India.

While the sector faces logistical challenges and varying production trends—such as a slight decrease in corn planting intentions due to input costs—the overall outlook remains positive. The government's reduction of certain agricultural export duties is also noted as a factor supporting the sector's growth potential.
