Argentina fishing industry grows 300.2% in July

Argentina's fishing industry saw a significant surge in July 2026, with the Industrial Production Index (IPI) for fishing growing by 300.2% year-on-year and 7.1% compared to the previous month, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

Maritime fishing was a primary driver of this growth, increasing by 523.1% in July compared to the same month last year. The cumulative growth for the January-July period reached 57.2% compared to the previous year. Within specific species categories, crustaceans experienced a massive increase of 2,786.8% year-on-year, while the fish group saw a slight decline of 0.4% in July.

In contrast, the aquaculture sector faced challenges, declining by 11.2% in July compared to the previous year, although its cumulative growth for the first seven months of 2026 remained positive at 12.9%.
