Argentina football updates: Yamila Rodríguez joins Talleres, Gianfranco Ledestre named to U‑16 national squad

Forward Yamila Rodríguez, 28, has signed with Talleres de Córdoba, returning to Argentine women's football after spells with Palmeiras, Santos and Gremio in Brazil and a stint in Spain. Previously a Boca Juniors star who won three league titles and was top scorer at the 2022 Copa América, Rodríguez also featured in the 2023 World Cup.

Midfielder Gianfranco Ledestre, 13, of River Plate’s Seventh Division, has been recalled to the Argentina U‑16 national team. He will train at the AFA’s Lionel Andrés Messi facility in Ezeiza ahead of an October tournament in Colombia. Ledestre previously helped Argentina finish runner‑up at the Dream Cup in Japan, scoring two goals, and has competed in youth events in Paraguay, the United States and Miami.
