Argentina fraud scams cost families and businesses over 55 million pesos

More than 20 families in the Peñas Negras community of Catamarca Province reported that a buyer identified as Renzo Aguirre took their annual textile production—valued at over 15 million pesos—without payment. The complaint was filed with the provincial prosecutor, and the families say the loss threatens their livelihood for the coming months.

In Las Heras, Mendoza Province, a construction‑materials store discovered that a POS terminal had been reprogrammed for about two weeks, diverting nearly 40 million pesos to an account controlled by a 32‑year‑old suspect. The man was arrested and his partner was charged. Both cases illustrate significant fraud affecting local producers and merchants in Argentina.
