Argentina secures lower U.S. tariffs, outpacing regional rivals

On 25 July 2026 Argentine presidential spokesperson Adrián Ravier announced that the United States' new tariff measures fully respect the bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement signed in February, keeping Argentina in the lowest tariff band in South America.

The U.S. will apply tariffs of up to 10 % on Argentine goods, below the 12.5 % rate imposed on Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay and far lower than Brazil's tariffs that can reach 37 %. The policy also preserves exemptions for 1,675 products freed from duties in February and adds 93 items with a 0 % rate, while the annual quota of 100,000 tonnes of beef remains unchanged.

Ravier credited the favorable outcome to the "excellent moment" in Argentina‑U.S. relations, linking it to President Javier Milei and U.S. President Donald Trump.
