Argentina: Government defends economic model amid political tension

Presidential spokesperson Adrián Ravier has criticized the Kirchnerist opposition, asserting that while they seek to dismantle the current economic model, the public has already chosen a different path. Ravier expressed confidence in the government's ability to maintain its legislative agenda, citing the support of 95 deputies and senators from La Libertad Avanza, alongside alliances with provincial governors.

Addressing fiscal matters, Ravier defended the government's stance on the University Financing Law, characterizing the opposition's efforts as attempts to break fiscal balance. He also addressed the disability sector, claiming the previous administration used non-contributory pensions for political purposes, though he noted that ongoing audits face operational difficulties.

On the economic front, the administration's focus remains on fiscal discipline, inflation reduction, and economic openness. However, political analysts note that as the 2027 presidential elections approach, investors are increasingly looking beyond macroeconomic variables like interest rates and exchange rates. The primary concern for major investors is whether the current economic direction will maintain continuity following the next electoral cycle.
