Argentina reaches IMF technical agreement for third program review

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached a technical agreement with the Argentine government regarding the third review of its 48-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program. This agreement paves the way for a potential disbursement of approximately US$ 900 million, pending final approval by the IMF Executive Board, which is expected in early December.

The IMF highlighted the country’s disciplined macroeconomic policies and market-oriented reforms, noting they have supported disinflation and strengthened Argentina’s external position. Key economic indicators cited include net international reserves exceeding the end-June target by approximately US$ 4,000 million and the Central Bank purchasing nearly US$ 16,000 million in foreign exchange so far this year.

Additionally, the Treasury has captured more than US$ 5,000 million in foreign currency through local markets. The IMF also noted the impact of the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), with approved projects exceeding US$ 76,000 million, which is expected to contribute to long-term economic growth and employment.
