Argentina government responds to ATE request for Milei medical assessment
The Argentine government has issued a response to a request from the State Workers Association (ATE) regarding the psychophysical fitness of President Javier Milei. The response, issued by the General Secretariat of the Presidency under Karina Milei, stated that the President holds a position through popular election in accordance with the requirements established by the National Constitution and is subject to the provisions of the National Public Employment Law.
ATE Secretary General Rodolfo Aguiar has criticized the response as “incomplete and evasive,” noting that it failed to provide medical certificates or complementary studies signed by professionals to certify the President's fitness for office. The union argues that the President's health is a matter of state rather than a private issue. ATE intends to submit a new request for documentation, specifically seeking reports signed by licensed professionals to substantiate the President's ability to perform his duties.
