Argentina health authorities conduct blood donation drives

Health authorities in Argentina are conducting various initiatives to ensure blood supplies remain available for surgeries, transplants, and emergency treatments.

In one region, the Hospital Centro de Salud continues its weekly Monday blood drives. Despite lower turnout due to cold weather, laboratory chief Luis Rubén Ávila noted that significant numbers of donors continue to support the hospital's needs for both scheduled and emergency procedures. The collected units are sent to the Blood Bank to support patients undergoing surgical interventions and oncological treatments.

In the Province of Buenos Aires, the Institute of Hemotherapy is organizing a mobile unit drive in Plaza Brandsen. Micaela Maldonado, a representative of the Institute, emphasized that blood cannot be manufactured and relies entirely on voluntary donors. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the constant need for blood in hospitals for accidents, surgeries, and transplants. Requirements for donors include being between 16 and 65 years old, weighing over 50 kilos, and being in good health.
