Argentina health officials alert rise in influenza A(H3N2) as winter approaches

The health ministry of Jujuy province urged residents to adopt balanced nutrition, adequate hydration and regular physical activity to protect against winter‑related illnesses. Recommendations include three daily servings of fruit, two of vegetables, eight glasses of water and at least an hour of moderate exercise, while avoiding processed foods and sugary drinks.

National epidemiological data show a continued increase in respiratory viruses across Argentina, driven largely by influenza A(H3N2), which accounts for 98% of reported cases. In the latest surveillance week, influenza positivity rose to 57.4% and 222 patients were hospitalized with the virus. COVID‑19 cases remain low and respiratory syncytial virus circulation is limited. Authorities stress the importance of flu vaccination, especially for high‑risk groups, to reduce complications and hospital admissions during the peak season.
