Argentina health report identifies leading causes of mortality

A recent official report on mortality in Argentina highlights that non-communicable diseases are the primary cause of death in the country. Cardiovascular diseases, including myocardial infarction, heart failure, and arterial diseases, remain among the leading causes of death, often driven by risk factors such as hypertension, smoking, diabetes, and sedentary lifestyles.

In addition to cardiovascular issues, cancer and respiratory diseases continue to have a significant impact on mortality rates. The report also notes distinct differences between men and women regarding both causes of death and the ages at which they occur.

Regarding breast cancer specifically, data from the Ministry of Health indicates that more than 20,750 new cases are diagnosed annually in Argentina, resulting in over 6,000 deaths. Medical experts emphasize that early detection is critical, as the disease can be cured in more than 90% of cases when identified in its early stages. Specialists also work to combat misinformation regarding diagnostic procedures, such as mammography, clarifying that the technique is safe and essential for early detection.
