Man Charged with Sexual Abuse of 12-Year-Old Girl in Juzgan, Argentina

During the opening statements of a trial in Juzgan, prosecutors allege that a 19‑year‑old man abused a 12‑year‑old girl. The prosecutor, Celina Morales Torino, said the defendant used deceit, threats and manipulation, initially meeting the child at a restaurant where he worked as a waiter. After establishing contact through social media and falsely claiming to be 16, he entered the girl's apartment, displayed a knife, and intimidated her with false claims of a homicide to compel compliance. The girl was allegedly forced to delete phone content and was misled to claim the device was stolen. Evidence presented includes CCTV footage, medical and psychological reports, and witness testimonies. The trial began on 8 June and is expected to continue until 11 June, presided over by Judge Cecilia Flores Toranzos.
