Argentina honors hockey teams as Malta prepares for WTTC Summit

The Buenos Aires Chamber of Deputies has granted preliminary approval to several projects recognizing the performance of Argentina's national field hockey teams at the 2026 World Cup in the Netherlands. The female team, known as ‘Las Leonas’, secured their third world title after defeating the host nation 3-1 in a shoot-out following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. The men's team also achieved a historic third-place finish by defeating the Netherlands 2-1.

Separately, Malta has been selected to host the 2026 World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit from October 7 to 9. The event is expected to draw over 200 CEOs, 60 government ministers, and more than 1,000 delegates. The summit aims to strengthen Malta's international relations and showcase its tourism infrastructure, hospitality, and investment potential to key industry leaders in aviation, hospitality, and technology.
