Argentina hosts cultural and indigenous education summits
Various educational and cultural gatherings were held in Argentina to address heritage preservation and intercultural education. In Catamarca, the XVIII National Meeting of the Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA Argentina) and the XII Meeting for Museum Educators showcased new digital tools for community engagement.
Projects presented included a 2D adventure video game, ‘Guardianes de las coplas’, designed to connect younger generations with local heritage through digitized images and historical content. Additionally, efforts were highlighted to digitize photographs from the Fiesta Nacional del Poncho for Wikimedia Commons to preserve collective memory.
In Buenos Aires, the XXIV National Meeting of Indigenous Educators, organized by ENDEPA, brought together approximately 50 teachers and intercultural educators. Under the theme ‘Body, land, and territory’, participants discussed Bilingual Intercultural Education and the challenges faced by communities dealing with territorial conflicts and displacement. The meeting included representatives from various indigenous groups, including the Qom, Pilagá, Wichí, Mapuche, and Guaraní, among others.
