Argentina hosts first National Cyberdefense Congress

Argentina hosted its first National Cyberdefense Congress from September 16 to 18 at the Army Engineering Faculty (FIE), part of the National Defense University (UNDEF). The event brought together experts from academic, scientific-technological, business, and governmental sectors, both domestically and internationally.

During the opening speech, Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Presti emphasized that cyberspace is a distinct domain of contemporary conflict that is transversal and closely linked to land, maritime, aerial, and space domains. The congress was declared of interest by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice, and the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

The agenda covered various strategic topics, including cyber defense policies, cyber operations, cognitive warfare, international cooperation in cybercrime investigation, cyber diplomacy, and the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure. Participants included high-ranking officials from the Argentine Army and specialists from Germany, Spain, El Salvador, and the Organization of American States (OAS).
