Argentina regional housing programs expand across provinces

Various regional governments in Argentina are implementing housing programs to address local deficits and manage existing properties. In San Juan, the Provincial Housing Institute (IPV) has identified 500 vacant homes. Elina Peralta, head of the IPV, stated that the agency is initiating legal and administrative processes to recover these units for redistribution to families in need, a process that can take up to a year per unit.

In La Rioja, Governor Ricardo Quintela oversaw the delivery of a new home under the Plan Angelelli, a program that has provided over 1,026 housing solutions across the province. A new agreement was signed to ensure the continuity of this policy in the General Belgrano department.

In Timbúes, a lottery was held to assign 54 homes in the Islas Malvinas and Los Nogales neighborhoods. This initiative, part of the Plan Hábitat, includes specialized units for people with disabilities. Meanwhile, in Trenque Lauquen, Secretary of Government Martín Borrazas defended local housing construction efforts, noting that the municipality is among a small number of local governments in the country actively building new homes to combat the housing shortage.
