Córdoba authorities identify eight more dictatorship victims

Federal Judge Miguel Hugo Vaca Narvaja announced the identification of eight additional victims of Argentina's 1976-1983 military dictatorship. The remains were recovered from the Loma del Torito area, located within the La Calera military garrison adjacent to the former La Perla clandestine detention and extermination center.

The identified individuals are Néstor Albino Acosta, Pascual Delfín Ludueña, Claudio Norberto Nardini, Cecilia Alicia Pessina de Ávila, Mónica Protti de Guillén, Mercedes del Valle Ramírez, María Luisa Salto, and Juan Carlos Soulier. These findings, made possible through DNA testing and anthropological analysis by the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF), bring the total number of victims identified at this site since the start of the 2025 excavation campaign to 38.

Investigators suggest that the heterogeneous nature of the victims' backgrounds and the timing of their abductions support the hypothesis that military forces used heavy machinery in 1979 to move and hide remains. This maneuver was allegedly intended to conceal evidence of crimes against humanity prior to an inspection by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).
