Argentina imposes new border trade limits with Bolivia
Argentina's Agency for Collection and Customs Control (ARCA) has implemented new restrictions on the Border Neighbor Traffic regime, affecting trade between Argentina and Bolivia. Under General Resolution 5910/2026, which took effect on October 10, the maximum value of goods that can be transported per person per day is now capped at US$150.
The new regulations also prohibit the export of several specific items, including fuels in supplementary tanks or containers, and grains such as wheat, soy, and corn in any form. Additionally, goods packaged in containers of 10 kilograms or more are restricted, as they are no longer considered standard formats for personal or household consumption.
These changes have caused significant concern among merchants and workers in border towns like Salvador Mazza and Aguas Blancas, which connect to Bolivian populations such as Yacuiba. Local leaders, including Salvador Mazza Mayor Gustavo Subelza, have sought provincial intervention to address the potential economic impact on small businesses and the daily commercial exchange that sustains these regions.
