Mexico industrial activity shows regional growth led by Tamaulipas
According to data from INEGI, industrial activity in Mexico showed varied performance across several states in June 2026. Tamaulipas led the country with a significant 15.7% annual increase, driven by the petroleum mining, manufacturing, and construction sectors. Other states reporting notable annual growth included Hidalgo, Colima, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Oaxaca.
San Luis Potosí also demonstrated industrial dynamism, ranking sixth nationally with a 1.6% monthly increase compared to May, supported by manufacturing and mining. However, the national construction sector faced significant headwinds, specifically in Coahuila, which recorded a 24.7% annual contraction, becoming a major drag on the country's overall construction performance.
While many states saw gains in mining and construction, others experienced declines. Morelos, Puebla, and Baja California Sur reported decreases in industrial activity, and Coahuila's sharp decline in construction marked a significant shift from its positive growth in the previous year.
