Argentina inflation shows signs of rebounding in September
Argentina is facing a potential slowdown in its disinflation trend as September inflation figures approach a possible rebound. While August saw monthly inflation drop to 1.7%, private analysts and market surveys suggest September figures may rise toward 2.0%.
In the City of Buenos Aires, inflation rose to 1.8% in September, driven by a 2% increase in services and a 2.1% rise in food and beverages. This trend complicates the economic program led by Economy Minister Luis Caputo, as persistent price pressures hinder wage recovery.
Despite the reduction in monthly inflation from previous highs, the cost of living remains a significant challenge. Poverty rates in the country rose from 28.2% to 32.3% in the first half of the year, and unemployment has reached 7.9%. Analysts note that while inflation has decelerated, it does not immediately translate to lower prices or increased purchasing power for citizens.
