Argentina inflation rises to 2.1% in July, triggering pension increases FAST-MOVING

Argentina's National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) reported that July inflation rose to 2.1%, an acceleration from the 1.9% recorded in June. This figure brings the accumulated inflation for the first seven months of 2026 to 19.3%, while the year-on-year rate reached 33.8%. The increase was largely driven by the Recreation and Culture sector, which saw a 5.0% rise, and Restaurants and Hotels, which rose 2.8%. Conversely, clothing and footwear prices decreased by 1.3%.

As a result of this inflation data, the National Social Security Administration (ANSES) will apply a 2.1% increase to all pensions, social benefits, and family allowances in September. This adjustment follows the established mobility formula. For minimum pension recipients, the increase will be supplemented by a $70,000 bonus. Economy Minister Luis Caputo expressed confidence in the government's fiscal and financial stability policies, attributing the seasonal spike to winter holidays and international energy price fluctuations.
