Argentina and Eurozone report July 2026 inflation data
Economic indicators for July 2026 show divergent trends in Argentina and the Eurozone. In Argentina, the wholesale price index (IPIM) rose by 0.8%, a figure celebrated by President Javier Milei as the lowest for a July since 2019. The IPIM has accumulated a 16.6% increase since January. However, consumer inflation (CPI) rose by 2.1%, driven largely by a 2% increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, bringing the year-on-year consumer inflation to 33.8%. Additionally, construction costs in the country rose by 2.1% in July, fueled by a 2.5% increase in labor and general expenses.
In the Eurozone, inflation accelerated to 2.9% in July, up from 2.8% in June. Energy prices saw a significant annual increase of 10.3%, while services rose by 3.3%. Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and food prices, stood at 2.5%. Within the European Union, Romania recorded the highest inflation rate at 8.2%, while Sweden saw the lowest at 0.3%.
Other regional economic shifts include a decline in beef consumption in Argentina, reaching a two-decade low, and a reported 4% drop in global Volvo Cars sales for the May-July quarter, despite growth in electrified models.
