Latin American nations intensify migration enforcement and deportations

Several Latin American nations are intensifying migration enforcement and deportation operations.

In the Dominican Republic, the Dirección General de Migración (DGM) deported 2,968 foreigners for irregular status during weekend operations held between August 14 and 16. The enforcement actions, which involved the Army and National Police, took place across various provinces including Gran Santo Domingo, Santiago, and La Romana. Authorities detained a total of 3,072 individuals during these simultaneous deployments.

Argentina is also deepening its migratory controls through a combination of territorial inspections and new technological tools to centralize information. The government is coordinating with federal forces, such as the Gendarmería and Federal Police, to detect irregular status. Recent operations in Rosario resulted in the detection of several individuals with irregularities, including a Chinese citizen with an expulsion order.

In Peru, the Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones, in coordination with the National Police, expelled 42 individuals, including 35 Venezuelans and seven Colombians, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce national security and immigration order.
