Argentina investigates multiple violent incidents involving fire and domestic disputes
Authorities in Argentina are investigating several violent incidents involving fire and domestic disputes. In Granadero Baigorria, Santa Fe, a 29-year-old pregnant woman is in intensive care with burns covering 15% of her body. Following an emergency cesarean, her premature baby is also being treated in neonatology. Her partner, 36-year-old Gabriel C., has been detained as investigators look into a possible attempted femicide. Police seized a bottle of alcohol and clothing from the residence for analysis.
In Las Heras, Santa Cruz, a 22-year-old woman died in a house fire. While her partner is currently in intensive care under police custody, the investigation has been upgraded to qualified homicide after fire experts determined the blaze was intentional. The victim's family is seeking to have the case prosecuted as a femicide.
Other regional incidents include a fatal fire in Coronel Pringles that claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman, and a stabbing incident in Chepes involving a couple. In Spain, separate incidents were reported where an 88-year-old man and a 65-year-old man died following uncontrolled brush and field fires.
