Argentina hit by 48‑hour storm system bringing heavy rain, hail and strong winds

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued alerts for a powerful storm system expected to affect large parts of Argentina for about 48 hours. The system brings intense rain, hail and wind gusts up to 70 km/h, with some regions such as Neuquén facing gusts as high as 90 km/h. A yellow alert for strong wind was placed on the Cordillera of San Juan, while Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego are expected to see temperatures near ‑1 °C and possible snowfall.

An orange alert for Neuquén specified rain accumulations of 10‑60 mm and mixed rain‑snow at higher elevations, along with strong west winds. The forecast for July 9‑11 predicts increasing cloudiness, isolated showers, and occasional frost across several agricultural zones, including Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, La Pampa and parts of Buenos Aires.
