Argentina issues yellow cold alerts for Chubut and Entre Ríos

The National Weather Service (SMN) renewed a yellow alert for extreme cold in the province of Chubus on Sunday, 14 June. The warning covers the departments of Río Senguer, Cushamen, Futaleufú, Languiñeo and Tehuelches, where temperatures are expected to drop well below zero and frost will persist throughout the day. The service highlighted health risks for older people, children, those with chronic illnesses and anyone exposed outdoors for long periods, and issued safety recommendations such as dressing in layers, staying active, keeping homes heated safely and avoiding alcohol.

A separate yellow alert was also issued for Entre Ríos on Monday, 15 June, coinciding with a public holiday. The alert spans much of the province, including Concordia, Federación, Paraná and Nogoyá, and forecasts sub‑zero temperatures and possible hard frost during the early morning hours. Authorities warned families and the agricultural sector to take precautions for vulnerable groups and livestock, and advised the public to stay informed about the evolving conditions.
